Beau is a very special mare. She is remarkable in her personality. She is one of those few mares that 'never does anything wrong'. Beau was nearly starved to death when we purchased her as a rescue, and had a month old colt on her side. It was truly a tragic picture. To top it off, she had a bad wire cut on the inside of a back hock. The wound had never been treated, and it affects her still. She is unable to find much flexion in that leg so trimming that hoof is difficult and she stocks up badly when stalled more than a day. She is so very sweet, and if she remains her until her dying day, that would be just fine. However, if a person is interested in just having a loving mare to keep in a pasture, I would be willing to let her retire to them. I am only offering her as a companion horse -- she is not sound to ride, and at the end of gestation, she is simply miserable. If I won't breed her again, I certainly don't want anyone else to do it.
