Have you ever watched something that touched you on such a deep level that it literally takes your breath away, causes your heart to pound, and brings tears to your eyes all at the same time? That was how it was with me the first time I saw a Friesian horse. I was 9 years old and watching the movie LadyHawke. I had always loved horses, as most young girls do, but until that day, I didn't realize that these stunning, regal and majestic horses were to be my destiny in life. From the moment I saw Othello in the movie, I was hooked. I swore one day I would own and breed Friesians. And I waited. Years went by, and it was never the right time...mostly because I could never afford one of these amazing creatures. Years became decades, and I still waited. I knew in my heart that one day I would realize my dream. I have to say though, there were times when I wanted to give up. This wasn't a daydream in the back of my mind... it became an obsession. Everything that I did in my life was, in some way, *supposed* to get me closer to that dream. Of course as a teenager and then a young adult, life very often got in the way of those dreams... heads get turned, hearts get broken...sometimes plans change.

Nineteen years went by and I never forgot those majestic horses I had once seen in that movie. By now I knew a great deal about them. I studied bloodlines, and I watched from the sidelines. I read everything I could about them. I visited all the websites and got to know breeder websites by heart. Somewhere in the middle of all that, God threw the man he had in mind for me all my life.. right into my face. Well, while I may be "horse obsessed" .. I'm not crazy. I hung on for dear life as he flew by, and he hung on to me. I never thought that I would have such a loving, caring man leading me into all this, but I do. For a long time the Friesians were the inspiration in my life. In 2002, it became my husband.

What I didn't know at the time was that my husband would be the one to make my most precious and guarded dream come true. Today, after waiting for 26 long years, I have my first purebred Friesian filly. I also have a Saddlebred/Friesin cross gelding, 2 Friesian cross babies, and 6 mares bred to Friesians next year! Right now we have 17 horses on our ranch, and I can't believe the whirlwind ride its been!

The vision of our ranch is unique. While I hold the Friesian purebreds closest to my heart, it hit me one day that I could spend a life time entwining something special into the breed. Friesians, of course, only come in black... but what if they could be grulla...or palomino...or blue roan.... ?
Now, we breed the best colored mares to purebred, only approved Friesian stallions to infuse gorgeous grulla, palomino, buckskin, roan and the even more rare colors of dunskin and dunalinos. Our goal is to develop a crossbreed of color that is at least 87% Friesian blood. We do not wish to change the Friesian.... just add a little color!
Thank you for reading. Please feel free to drop me an email or give me a call. I love talking about my favorite subject!
